1.Exhaust manifold

After the fresh air is mixed with gasoline and burned into the engine, high-temperature and high-pressure gas is generated to push the piston. When the gas energy is released, it is no longer valuable to the engine, and these gases become exhaust gas and are discharged from the engine. After the exhaust gas is discharged from the cylinder, it immediately enters the exhaust manifold. After the exhaust manifold of each cylinder is collected, the exhaust gas is discharged through the exhaust pipe. And just like the intake manifold, the gas leaves the engine in a pulsed manner in the exhaust manifold, so the length and curvature of the exhaust manifold of each cylinder must be designed to be the same as much as possible, so that the exhaust of each cylinder can be the same Smooth.

2.Catalytic converter

Because environmental regulations have strict standards for vehicle emissions, regardless of idling, acceleration, low-speed driving, high-speed driving or deceleration, they must meet the emission standards. Vehicles face such severe restrictions, in addition to achieving a balance between performance and emission In addition, the only "skimming" is the catalytic converter. Catalytic converters usually use precious metals as raw materials, including oxidation catalysts, reduction catalysts and three-way catalytic converters used in most vehicles.

After the exhaust manifold, a catalytic converter is connected to convert incompletely burned pollutants into harmless substances to protect the environment.

Where is the catalytic converter located? Early catalytic converters were mostly installed in the middle of the exhaust pipe, and most of them were installed immediately after the exhaust manifold, so that the catalyst could reach the operating temperature faster. The catalyst must be at a high temperature close to 500 degrees to obtain better conversion efficiency, and at low temperature there is almost no conversion capacity, so the discharge of cold cars is quite large. Therefore, all car owners should be reminded not to heat the car in the indoor or underground parking lot. Try to drive the car to the outdoor as soon as it starts, so as not to poison yourself or other people in the parking lot.

3.silencer

The muffler is connected to the muffler from the catalytic converter. The muffler is a circular or elliptical cross-section. It is welded with thin steel plates and is installed in the middle or rear of the exhaust system. It has a series of partitions, Chambers, orifices and pipes use the phenomenon of sound wave reflection to interfere with each other to cancel out the sound energy gradually to isolate and attenuate the pulsating pressure generated every time the exhaust valve opens.

As the name suggests, the silencer is used to eliminate the noise of the exhaust and make the vehicle run more quietly. Generally, there will be several expansion chambers in the muffler. After several expansion procedures, the exhaust gas from the engine will make the exhaust pulses relax and eliminate noise. However, due to the complicated path of the gas in the muffler, in other words, the muffler reduces the smoothness of the exhaust, so it will slightly affect the performance of the engine. Some people will modify the straight-through exhaust tail pipe by themselves, so although the performance of the engine is slightly improved, it will greatly increase the exhaust noise, so this is not worthy of affirmation and is a violation of traffic regulations.
